Welcome to The Meal!
The Meal is a movement…
A magazine, a podcast (Nourish Me), a book in the making, and a docu-series in pilot mode.
After working with people in health and wellness for two decades, I realized I was sick of the fad diet insanity, deprivation, and tasting decadent, fattening sweets, only to experience post-ingestion remorse. So I decided it was time to just ENJOY my FOOD! I learned from global exploration of other cultures, India, Mexico, Central America, Italy, and other European countries to slow down and revere the total culinary process.
I want to show people how to make the MEAL more than eating. I want them to make it an experience. A mindful meditation. Through first-hand experience, storytelling, and exploration of traditions from countries worldwide, I want to inspire you to take eating seriously!
Over 15 years ago, I was re-awakened to the sacred act of the meal when I studied Yoga and Ayurvedic Medicine in India. The Indian culture is filled with ritual and ceremony. Food is life force, or Prana, which comes from nature, or God and should be respected and appreciated.
The Indians treat every meal as a sacred ceremony. Before each meal, there is always an offering to a god or a deity. This offering is a spiritual blessing and protects the food from bad omens. The energy put into making the food is thought to pass to those who digest it. For example, food made with a mother's loving hands fortifies her children with nutrition and love.
The Indian meal is infused with divine and loving energy. Feeling this unseen energy of the Indian meal inspired me to come back to America and educate people on how to bring reverence back to the table.

Since this awakening, I traveled to other countries and found more inspiration to celebrate the meal beyond just the physical act of putting food in your mouth.
I invite you to come be inspired by what other cultures have taught me about taking eating seriously.
